It's hard to believe, but summer is over and fall has appeared.
I loved walking my dog to my local farmer's market and picking up fresh produce and big leafy heads of romaine lettuce, kale, greens of all kinds and whipping them in to lovely green smoothies.
I do have a confession to make. I did very little micro green growing over the summer. There was so much at the market's, and my heart was into supporting our local farmers and taking advantage of all the great fresh produce.
But, my heart has now come home. The greens are ready to start sprouting and my body is ready to start benefiting from all those micro nutrients again.
I found another favorite this year to add to my smoothies. Dandelions! Yes, your common dandelion so many people put chemicals on top of to try to rid them from their yard. I am a bit ashamed to admit, that I used to be one of those. But for the last few years, I have stopped chemical application for the sake of our health and our planet earth.
Now, I am very excited to grow some micro greens and add some FREE dandelions to my smoothie. I'm not sure how long I will have to continue to be able to harvest my dandelions until the harsh weather sets in, but I'm going to take advantage of it now while I can. My smoothies are going to be so nutrient dense, I just won't be able to stand it. This is reason to shout for joy!
